Green Dimes

Almost every day at church I receive at least one catalog in the mail, and almost every day I throw said catalog in the trash. As an environmentalist and a follower of Christ committed to the care of God's creation this just kills me.

I have no idea how many hundreds of catalogs I have thrown away in the seven years I've been at my church, but just thinking about it makes me sick.

That's why I'm so fired up about Green Dimes--finally there is something we can do about it. Green Dimes is basically like signing up for the National "Do not call" list, but for your mailbox. You pay a one-time fee of $20 and then have the power to list as many names for your household (or, like in my case, business) that you wish to free from the clutches of junk mail. You can also enter names of catalogs you no longer want to receive and Green Dimes will take care of it for you.

Not only am I getting rid of the annoyances of junk mail, but I'm doing some serious good for the environment. And my mailbox at church will be a lot less full.

Check it out.
