V-Movies Final Poll

After three days of mostly staying in bed and resting "my boys", I was antsy and ventured out to run some errands and stretch my legs. Bad idea. I'm back on the frozen peas.

This means I watched another film today, In the Heat of the Night, which, when combined with the others this week, brings my total to seven movies.

Here is my ranking of those seven films:

1. In the Heat of the Night - Could have been because I saw it most recently, but I really liked the late-60's southern racial tension wrapped up in a smart murder mystery. Watching this on the potential eve of our country electing an African-American to the office of president made it even more poignant.

2. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington - Frank Capra's 1937 movie made me want to stand up and pledge allegiance to the flag. Jimmy Stewart is great.

3. Fargo - See my earlier post. Loved it.

4. Shane - Ditto. This was probably a tie for third.

5. The French Connection - Probably very groundbreaking for its time, but felt dated to me. Hackman is fun to watch as Popeye Doyle.

6. THX 1138 - Liked it, didn't love it. Interesting premise and "world" created by Lucas, but too ambitious?

7. Easy Rider - After a couple of days of reflection this ends up at the bottom of the barrel. Rent anything in the top 4 instead.

Here's hoping I get back and moving soon so I won't need to compile another list.

Are you sure "in the heat of the night" doesn't refer to your pills?

It definitely could, Chris, it definitely could. My "pills" are taking a lot longer than anticipated.
