A Lament

You walk by and ask,
"How's it going?"
I consider it a question rather than
a greeting, so I give it some thought.
By the time I answer,
"Okay, I guess, for today,"
you have already physically and mentally
moved on.
And another human interaction,
pregnant with possibility, is
stillborn,
strangled by the cord
of the urgent.

nice it humbles me and my own shallowness. btw it looks like a classic match up in the rose bowl.

Yes indeed, Brother Zeke. Joe Pa verses Uncle Pete should be entertaining.

I'm just as shallow, at times...part of why I wrote it.
