Day 12 found me in downtown Long Beach at Covenant Presbyterian Church for their 2nd annual Scrabble Scramble fundraiser. My Dad, my brother, and my sister-in-law entered as a team (Don't Get Stuck with the "Q"--hey, it's a team name and it's advice) and we ended up winning the thing.Yeah, I know, congrats to us.
There was a nice cash prize but Ted and I were most excited that we would have our names engraved on the trophy. Money goes away, but a trophy? With your name on it? Just look at the picture to see how we feel about that.
And, yes, we will be back next year to defend our title.

what was your best word of the night?
Diane, it was "wake." Triple word score, double letter score on the "w". 46 points. Not bad. The format called for very fast play--there were three 25 minute games at the end of which scores were totaled and the team with the most points won.
I like a slower game, myself, but this was a fun change of pace.
I have longed for a good scrabble game next time I come out we might have to indulge my vocab is getting weak by only doing small town newspaper crossword puzzles
