Conflict

True confession: I'm having a really hard time rooting for the Dodgers in the playoffs. My desire for a freeway world series and my dislike of the Dodgers are going head to head. I'd still like to see the Angels square off against the Dodgers but I must admit to being secretly pleased that they lost last night.

I'm a conflicted sports fan.

I sometimes find myself wondering if I'll ever regain the energy and enthusiasm for any sports team, other than whatever the grandkids may be a part of. I remember very clearly choosing the Dodgers when they were still in Brooklyn because everyone else I knew loved the Yankees. I used to grab the sports page and check the standings on a regular basis. When the Dodgers moved out here, I was absolutely delighted, and by then I was old enough to listen to the games on the radio as I did my homework. Those were the days of Duke Snyder, Pee Wee Reese, Gil Hodges, the incredible Roy Campanella before his injury, Junior Gillian (SP?), etc. My, how I loved the team and the game! As life busied up, I started to drift away, too consumed with other responsibilities to keep up, or so I thought at the time. Perhaps someday........
Anyway, enjoy your Angels, but please don't hate the Dodgers!

"Hate" is much too strong a word, Mom. Dislike is more accurate. Probably about the same way you feel about the Yankees.
