Create Silence

This has been a very stressful Lenten season for me. I feel like I have been running around non-stop, both in my vocational life and my personal life. It is now Holy Week and I feel as if the events I am preparing to celebrate are abstract and far from me. This should not be! I take partial responsibility but I also point to the culture in which I live and see how Living in the midst of it (in the sense that God wishes us to Live) is challenging at best, near impossible at worst. Reread the below quote and was reminded how that silence is missing right now in my life and how much Noise there is in the world to combat.

If I could prescribe just one remedy for all the ills of the modern world, I would prescribe silence. For even if the word of God were proclaimed in the modern world, no one would hear it; there is too much noise. Therefore, create silence.
- Soren Kierkegaard
