Day 1 (Monday) was pretty good. I nibbled on chicken breasts, ate carrot sticks and snap peas, and munched on unsalted almonds. Not bad really. Only moments of temptation came during our small groups thank you dinner for small group leaders.
Lasagna was on the menu. According to the Mexican hippies that my Yoda runs with--the ones who came up with this healthy eating guide in the 70's--lasagna is bad on a couple of levels. First, that's a lot of cheese and cheese is no bueno during a cleanse. Second, it combines carbs and protein in every mouthful (it was meat lasagna) and for optimal digestion one is supposed to separate carb and protein intake.
I had salad and garlic bread and avoided the ice cream dessert.

By the way, I go into this cleanse at a robust 228 lbs. and while the goal it not really to lose weight I won't mind if that's a side benefit. For years now I've hovered between 220--230 but I'd be happy to get back to my college basketball playing weight of 210-215. This may happen--I lost 4 lbs in the first day.

More good news: Yoda thinks it's okay for me to eat canned tuna!
